Commissioner Nelson Peters was re-elected to a second term as 1st District Allen County Commissioner in November 2008 and currently serves as secretary of the Board of Commissioners. In November 2006, he was named “Outstanding First Term Commissioner” by the Indiana Association of County Commissioners. Commissioner Peters holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Affairs, both from Indiana University. He and his wife Tammy have two children, Nelson and Chelsea and reside in northeast Fort Wayne. He sits on a wide variety of government boards in addition to serving on the boards of many social service agencies in our community. He is most appreciated by pro-life advocates as the Commissioner who did not give up on the issue of requiring abortion providers working in Allen County to comply with common sense regulations for the safety of their patients and be held accountable for their work.
