The Blessings We Overlook in Down Syndrome
//Kate Bohnet
Down syndrome, also known as Trisomy 21, is the most common chromosomal condition in the United States, with roughly 5,000 to 6,000 babies born with the condition annually. For most people with Down syndrome, every cell in their body has an extra copy of chromosome 21. While this genetic difference can result in developmental delays and certain medical challenges, it is only one part of who a person is.
